Congrats to Mary Keehn and our friends at Cypress Grove Chevre for being named a silver finalist in the Classic category of the 2010 sofi™ Awards! Cheese+Champagne favorite Humboldt Fog is the only cheese in this category, and if we had our way, it will be named the winner. We’ll find out at the 2010 Summer Fancy Food Show, to be held in New York on June 27-29. As you may recall, last year Cypress Grove came out on top in the Cheese/Dairy category for its delicious Truffle Tremor.
The 2010 finalists in Cheese/Dairy are:
- Antonio Mozzarella Factory for its hand-ladled ricotta
- Bellwether Farms for its vanilla sheep-milk yogurt
- Crystal Food Import Corp. for its Napf Beeler
- Fromagerie Belle Chevre for its Belle & The Bees Breakfast Cheese
- Ritrovo Italian Regional Foods for its Mt. Townsend Limited Edition Truffle & Salt Seastack
Other cheesey finalists include:
- Vermont Butter & Cheese Company’s Bijou in the Perishable Food Service Product category
- Beecher’s Handmade Cheese’s Smoky Roasted Vegetable Cavatappi in the Frozen Savory category
- Pearl River Pastry’s Goat Cheese and Pear Tart
- Hancock Gourmet Lobster Co.’s Port Clyde Lobster Mac & Cheese
It looks like we have some new cheeses to add to our ever-growing to-do list! Since Colleen and I won’t be able to attend this year’s Fancy Food Show, we’ll have to seek out tastes elsewhere. (Samples are always welcome!)

I have to admit, I had put the ol’ Fog on the back burner for a while due to overindulgence. I think it’s time to bring it back to the main stage.
Just like Baby Houseman, you can never put the Fog in a corner!
Humboldt Fog, Baguette, and truffled liver pate is the best snack in the world! Congrats to Cypress Grove Chevre.
