Happy New Year, dear readers! Thanks to all who shared and participated in the 2011 Cheese Ball Invitational here at Cheese and Champagne. We loved the enthusiasm and dedication to the cause of launching the once-lowly cheese ball to new heights of culinary glory. Without further ado, let me introduce the 2011 Cheese Ball contenders.

These sound delicious! I meant to enter my mom’s cheese ball, but time got away from me. I’m going to add these to my menu! Yum!!

I love the look of Madame Fromage‘s Point Reyes Pine Cone (!) and mmm….. Point Reyes blue cheese is so good! I always worry about serving food that looks like an ornament though, because people never want to eat it! This one looks good enough to adorn the fireplace mantle!

I was so inspired by these that I had to make my own today. No pictures, as mine is NO WHERE near as pretty as these. I used an old goat cheese dip recipe – with fresh thyme, sun-dried tomatoes and rolled in pine nuts. Bringing it to a friend’s house to share tonight.
Thanks the inspiration!!
